Bit Error Rate Monitoring
Today's telecommunications needs call for faster and more reliable networks. Optical transmission has allowed great advances in creating faster and more reliable global communications networks. Most optical networks are based on the SONET (North American) and SDH (International) standards. For my thesis, I have designed, implemented, and tested a bit-error rate monitoring circuit, compliant wit...

متن کاملBit error rate for rectangular QAM with arbitrary constellation mapping in Nakagami-m channels
We present closed-form expressions for the bit error rate (BER) of rectangular quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) in Nakagami-m fading channels. The presented formulas, which are valid for arbitrary bits-to-symbols mapping, thus may be used when non-Gray mapping is employed, are particularly useful in the low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) range and/or for small values of the parameter m. The a...
متن کاملPhase Noise Influence on Bit Error Rate, Cut-off Rate and Capacity of M-QAM OFDM Signaling
The performance of a bit-interleaved coded OFDM system disturbed by phase noise is investigated. The sensitivity is calculated as a function of the 3 dB phase noise bandwidth for several QAM constellations. The results for BER and cut-off rate (capacity) are closely related and illustrate the performance limits and required oscillator stability for an AWGN and an exemplary fading channel.
